Attack on Foreskin Man
Here’s a strange thing I saw on a comic book news site called Bleeding Cool News. (If you like comics, it’s the best news site out there!)
Again, someone is calling an intactivist anti-semitic. Seems like some are trying to quiet the anti-circ movement by calling anyone who speaks up against genital mutilation anti-Jew. It’s just not true. Religions are all equally stupid. Ancient rituals that demand body parts sliced off in the name of fictitious deities are crazy no matter what religion or reason.
The Foreskin Man comic book has been attacked non-stop for the past few weeks for their portrayal of a mohel (the evil Monster Mohel—a wicked Rabbi) in what many are calling a negative Jewish stereotype. They may be right. The creators of Foreskin Man may regret having gone too far. Sometimes we go to far when we are passionate about a cause. I know I have. But is Foreskin Man a Jew-hater? Or does he just hate this one aspect of Jewish, Muslim and American culture? I’m worried that this guy is taking so much fire when there are real anti-semites out there. It’s like when gay group GLAAD inexplicably goes after gay-allies like Kevin Smith or Family Guy when there are real homophobes on the air, in sports and on the radio. Some reports are saying that the portayal of the one mohel in the Foreskin Man comic book has derailed the anti-circ laws in San Francisco and Southern California. It’s become a really big deal. Or maybe it’s just a slow news cycle.
What do you think? Is Foreskin Man anti-semitic? Or is this a bunch of hot air over nothing?

It is pretty anti-Semitic, but mainly I just think foreskin man comics are stupid, they simplify and patronise the cause of people who are anti-circumcision.
Ok, listen here. I am a 14 year old jewish boy who has no foreskin. do I see it as mutalition? no. while I respect your comments, there is nothing wrong with having your foreskin cut when you are a baby. Everybody who did it while they were babies don’t remember it at all. And trust me, I have it on authority that it hurts A LOT more to be circumsiced while you are 18. I just think that this is an attack on a age-old jewish ritual. and before you say that I don’t know anything/shouldn’t be on this site, I am gay and I take pride in my knowlage of judesim and its affects. so please stop it is baby mutulation, because it is not, and also babies with foreskins have a higher chance of infection.
Brad, I think what you are saying is valid. It’s really great that you feel good about yourself and your body. You should. Some of us wish we weren’t cut and had no say about it. I don’t have any answers. I’m glad people are debating. Sometime age-old rituals need to be re-examined. Not necessarily forbidden, but just given a second thought. There are many Jews who are reconsidering ritual circumcision. Some do a small prick in the foreskin, allowing for some tradition, but leaving the baby intact. Some Jews feel they can be 100% and uncircumcised. I know these folks aren’t in the majority, but there are a lot of things to consider.
I hope that this discussion can continue without anyone feeling/being attacked. I have so much respect for Jewish people and have a huge attraction to Jewish men. (I know, it’s ironic.) I really appreciate that you took the time to give your opinion here. You make your case very well and I hope that people will continue to discuss this with the respect and consideration you’ve shown.
I am a foreskin enthusiast, and would like nothing more than letting boys decide on their own whether to get circumcised or not when they are men (or for ACTUAL medical reasons when they occur).
However, Foreskin Man # 2 is clearly anti-Semitic and extremely offensive. Whatever chances the San Francisco bill had of passing have been done in by FM. Even if you can get past the ugly imagery (I can’t), the resolution to the story is to…kidnap the child?
Foreskin Man is hurting, not helping, the cause. (The white blonde Aryan battling Africans in # 3 isn’t much of an improvement, either.)
To my eye, Captain Israel looks even more Aryan-macho than Foreskin Man.
Captain Israel persists in misunderstanding the issue. It is not circumcision per se, but circumcision performed before the 18th birthday, without the informed adult consent of the affected party.
That bris is 4000 years old is a legend, not historical fact.
That quite a few self-identified Jewish families no longer circumcise, and that there are Jewish intactivists, are two fact Arlen Schumer passes over in silence.
There are circumcised Christians, but for them it is an alleged medical procedure, not at all a ritual.
Finally, to claim that religions are immutable because what they do is by divine ordinance, flies in the face of a mountain of historical work, and common sense. Religion is part of human culture, and that culture evolves over time. Judaism gave up animal sacrifice and the stoning of adulterous women.
I prefer sipping tea and eating bikkies in the company of women intactivists. Men are too quick to settle differences of opinion by force.

ME. Many Jews would argue that the distinction you are making here is a pointlessly fine one. But I agree that we should struggle to make it.

ME. Those laws were not likely to pass, regardless. More important to understand is that intactivism is NOT about outlawing circumcision. At most, it is about putting an age limit on it. More essentially, intactivism is about completing the sex ed of parents of childbearing age, so that they have no desire to circumcise their sons.
Is Foreskin Man anti-semitic?
ME. #2 was unwise, especially given the SF ballot initiative.
Never forget that FM is the product of one mind, that of Matthew Hess. Moreover, FM does not have to pass a market test. It is not sold but distributed via the internet. It is illegal to sell something that sexually explicit to the under 18. Foreskin Man would sell only to a handful of lonely fetishists.

Israel Man has got to be the most be the most ridiculous and the most pathetic come-back parody I’ve ever seen. To criticize circumcision is to criticize Jews and the nation of Israel. Really?
I think comic or no comic, Jewish advocates of circumcision would have found a way to label intactivists “anti-Semites” anyway. All Foreskin Man has done is sped up the process. In a way, I think this was a good thing; Hess has destroyed the notion that circumcision is “off limits” under the anti-Semite card blackmail. I think by now Schumer and others are well aware that pulling the anti-Semite card no longer has the same effect. We’re now free to criticize an ancient custom and “anti-Semite” is an old and worn-out buzzword.
Somebody needs to give Schumer an update; nowadays, circumcision isn’t exclusive to Jews in Israel. When he’s done beating the Foreskin Man straw man into the ground, the arguments against cutting off part of a healthy, non-consenting child’s genitals, even in the name of “religious freedom” will remain ever intact.

Of course, it should also be pointed out in this discussion that the act of circumcision in America was not actually driven by the Jewish faith, it was driven by a maniac pseudo-doctor called Kellogg who deliberately wanted to destroy sexual urges in men.
He believed that masturbation was evil, and he tried everything to destroy it. He eventually chose circumcision because it was so painful (often performed on young men and teenagers without any anesthetic) and caused psychological trauma.
This is why those who claim it doesn’t decrease sexual pleasure are plainly wrong. He knew back then that it did just that and used that as a reason for continuing with it.
He was an evil and sick individual. And those doctors who perpetrate it to this day based on biased or plainly fictional statistics from a century ago should all be struck off.
I would love to see some serious work done to expose doctors who do this to children. It goes against their oath, and they are no better than a witch doctor in an African nation mutilating girls in a tent.

Judaism, not Semetism, is synonimous with infant genetal mutilation. As a man who had a perhi’a style circumcision by a Catholic Doctor taught by a Jewish Mohel how to perform the most destructive form of MGM on non Jews, portraying religious, ritual, and routine circumcisers as beasts or monsters is an accurate assessment. They should be put in straight jackets for their paranoid delusional acts of eugenics in the form of sexual mutilation on infants and children. Frankly, most of us are now quite sick of the Jews mostly dominating the media. The USA has declined ever since the 70s when they got control (that’s when people started getting fired/blacklisted for anti jew/israel views) America took a nosedive then because they cared NOTHING about anything else. A “Media Culture” where the media gets bought out and “Spins both sides of the story” is therefore ravaged by short-sighted businessmen who now have the public eye on their side. But, “Oy, Vey! You know we jews treated badly?”
They are really hurting themselves ringing the “Anti-Semitism” bell right and left. Mr. Hess is simply “Pro-Foreskin”. As he promised, Issue #3 goes after Africa. He bashes the Jews “Bronze Age Taboo” then goes right on to the African’s STONE age one… And again, he could have been a LOT viler let’s not even get started there…
Some people will call you anti-Semitic as an answer to any question that can be in any way connected to the Jewish people. It’s a cheap way of trying to win the argument. The result is that the Jewish people can never be criticised about anything. Maybe the solution is to let the Jewish people do their thing if they are so attached to it, and make it illegal for the rest of us.
Unfortunately, it’s the easiest shot they have. It’s common these days that if you criticism anything regarding Israel, from their attacks on the people of Gaza to their stance on nuclear proliferation, they call you an Anti-Semite. America tried the same against the anti-war movement, labeling them as terrorists. But, most don’t swallow the BS any more, people are not so stupid as to accept the abuse and mutilation of Children just because a religious group demands it.
It should be noted that the stoning of women was widespread and part of tradition in many countries, would Israel accept that this should continue because it’s the “right” of those perpetrating it to continue their disgusting practices? I think not.
