Photographing Gabriel Martin

By , December 8, 2011 2:58 AM

I’m often talking about the videos of uncut guys I make, but photographing uncut guys is a huge part of the job. I love the photo aspect of my porn work. I feel like I’ve come a long way since my first photos back in the Real Guys Exposed days. I’ve got a better camera now, I know more about lighting, controls and I even took a photography class along with my blogger pal Tommy Wells.

I usually take from 150 to 400 photos of each guy and I narrow it down to about 50 to 60. Sometimes it’s hard because the photos are great and I have to narrow it down. Sometime two or more photos are great but a little too similar. Sometimes a photos just doesn’t turn out just right. That’s what happened with the photos below. There’s some blur because Gabriel was cleaning up after the shoot. They also aren’t quite erotic enough for the site, but I liked the way they reveal an aspect of making porn. Gabriel was relaxed and had fun with the shoot. He’s smiling, satisfied and vulnerable.

This is my second time photographing Gabriel. The first time was just days before his 21st birthday back in July. He had a shaved chest back then. he looked great, but I like him best unshaved.

I wanted to share these photos since they’re flawed, but fun and show what it’s like when we aren’t trying to act all sexy. (But they’re still pretty hot!)

My First Man

By , July 2, 2011 10:30 AM

Calvin was my first guy. The first guy I photographed naked. The first man I filmed jacking off. Calvin took my porn virginity.

I was determined to be a pornographer. I’d been talking about it for a while and I knew I had to pull the trigger. I decided (I can’t remember why) to go to San Francisco to do my first shoot. I used Rentboy to find my first batch of models. I found Calvin (for his hair and foreskin), Charles Rod (huge uncut dick) and Conner Habib (sexy and fun attitude). I stayed at a cheap little Travelodge, not too far from The Castro, San Francisco’s gay neighborhood.

I was so nervous the night before. I don’t know if I slept much at all that night. I wanted to have some authority during the shoot. I wanted the models to think I knew what I was doing. Calvin showed up and I was really nervous. I’d made a checklist. Release form. Check. Copy ID. Check. I ran Calvin through my shoot plan and we got down to it. I did an interview with him. He was cool and relaxed. Almost cocky and arrogant, but never crossing the line. I photographed him naked with my Canon Elph point-and-shoot camera. I just wanted the pictures to be in-focus! I remember his grey boxer-briefs were stretched and worn.

He didn’t really care about looking sexy. He didn’t need to care. He radiated sex! I was getting extremely turned on. My pants were tenting out seven inches in front of me. Calvin started jerking off. I remember that his balls were bouncing as he stroked. I didn’t ever remember seeing balls bouncing like that. I wanted to grab his cock and give it a stroke. Just a little one. Just a sample. But I remained professional. I had a bigger responsibility. I had to ignore the wet tent in my jeans and capture this beautiful man’s moment, his beauty, for everyone out there. No matter what happens to Calvin from then on out, I was preserving him in his sensual prime. But man! I wanted to throw my clothes off and jump him. But I focused. Gotta get him from a few angles. Let me get a close up. Let me go wider. How long can I hold a shot and keep the audience interested? Stop for some still photos. Hope these come out good. DAMN I WANT TO SUCK HIM!

I got through the shoot. Calvin left my room and left me with a rock-hard raging boner. I was happy. If I was that hard, I knew anyone watching the video will be turned-on too. Something was working.

When I went through the footage, I was thrilled. Calvin looked stunning in the light. Later, when I was converting Real Guys Exposed to Fantastic Foreskin, I went through and re-cut all my clips, making sure they were as good as they could be. I watched Calvin undress and stroke all over again and got hard, just like I did that March day in that cheap, gaudily-colored San Francisco hotel room.

I knew I had I captured magic and I knew I’d never forget my first!

Alan Cumming Teams up With Photographer Francis Hills for Campaign to Promote Intact America and NORM-UK.

I love Alan Cumming. He’s handsome and shines as an actor in films like X-Men 2, Urbania and Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. But now I’m in love with him for his work as an intactavist (his term). Guys don’t come much better than Mr. Cumming. Check out this press release:

Award-winning actor and activist Alan Cumming is teaming up with celebrity photographer Francis Hills to shoot a campaign which will eventually be an exhibition and book, all in aid of two organizations: Intact America and its UK counterpart NORM-UK, which seek, through advocacy and education, to stop the unnecessary and unthinking circumcision of babies and children, and to promote foreskin health.

Alan, who has long been an outspoken advocate against circumcision, has been shot by Francis many times, culminating inthe 2009 NYC exhibition Alan and Me, and recently the two decided to collaborate again for this campaign.

‘We both feel that circumcision is genital mutilation, and that we aren’t given a foreskin for no reason’, says Cumming. So the pair began to talk about how they could do something that would raise both cash and awareness, to ignite a discussion and challenge default behavior and opinion about the issue.

The resulting photographs are the beginning of a portfolio that will include well-known men AND women from all walks of life who support the goals of Intact America and NORM-UK, and want to highlight the issue in America, the UK and the rest of the world.

The proposed book will be released in 2012 with an accompanying gallery exhibition of Francis’ photographs.
